Staff Software Engineer - DevOps/VCU-CCU Infotainment Systems (Automotive)

Staff Software Engineer (DevOps): Leading the technical direction of DevOps and platform engineering for next-generation infotainment systems with an accent on CI/CD optimization for embedded Linux. Location: Hybrid (Austin, TX or Mountain View, CA) — Must report to office at least 3 times per week

What you will do

• Define technical strategy and architecture for DevOps and CI/CD platforms supporting VCU/CCU infotainment systems.
• Optimize scalable CI/CD pipelines for embedded Linux (Yocto) using distributed build systems like BuildBarn/RBE.
• Automate release processes including branching strategies, versioning, artifact promotion, and quality gates.
• Build self-service platforms and dashboards to reduce manual effort and accelerate engineering delivery.
• Establish end-to-end observability and leverage AI/ML for predictive build failures and incident prevention.
• Mentor engineers and lead cross-functional initiatives from concept to production.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering.
• Proven track record of leading large technical initiatives across multiple teams.
• Deep knowledge of build and automation tooling (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
• Experience with embedded Linux build systems, cross-compilation, and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong programming skills in Python, Bash, or Groovy.
• Must be based in or be able to relocate to Austin, TX or Mountain View, CA.

Nice to have

• Experience with Yocto/OpenEmbedded and ARM-based embedded platforms.
• Domain expertise in Automotive, Android Automotive, Linux IVI, or QNX.
• Proficiency with Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or Artifactory.
• Experience applying ML/AI to DevOps workflows or MLOps practices.
