Mechanical Engineer (Robotics)

Salary: $110,000–$205,000 USD base salary per year, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Lead the design, construction, deployment, and validation of mechanical and electromechanical systems for robotic platforms.
• Architect autonomy hardware by selecting compute modules, communication and networking components, and sensors.
• Design ruggedized electronics enclosures from initial concepts through prototyping and environmental qualification.
• Own mechanical testing, including fixture design, hardware selection, wiring, sealing, and system validation.
• Integrate hardware with electrical and software systems and troubleshoot systems in the shop and field.
• Develop modular hardware architectures and document test plans, validation results, integration procedures, and hardware specifications.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or hardware test engineering, preferably in robotics, aerospace, automotive, or defense.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong 3D CAD skills for designing fixtures, enclosures, and electromechanical systems.
• Experience architecting systems, selecting sensors and compute, and designing ruggedized electronics.
• Experience with PCBA outlines, mechanical interfaces, thermal management, connector selection, and thermal, structural, fluid, shock and vibration, and environmental testing.
• Must be a U.S. Person due to access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities; may be expected to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance.

Nice to have

• Background in robotics, aerospace, automotive, or defense.
• Experience with field-ready systems and rapid iterative development between R&D and mission deployment.
