Mechanical Design Engineer (Robotics)

What you will do

• Design and release actuator components and assemblies meeting performance, packaging, reliability, and manufacturability requirements
• Deliver accurate CAD models, engineering drawings, BOMs, tolerance definitions, and interface documentation
• Improve actuator performance and durability through rapid prototyping, testing, failure analysis, and design iteration
• Integrate mechanical, electrical, sensing, and electromagnetic components into complete actuator systems
• Support transition of actuator designs from prototypes to production-ready hardware

Requirements

• Location: Must be able to work onsite in San Carlos, CA, USA
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 2–5 years of experience in mechanical design or product development
• Strong proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Onshape, or Inventor
• Hands-on experience with prototype assembly, testing, and hardware iteration
• Strong mechanical design fundamentals including tolerances, fits, materials, and mechanical intuition

Nice to have

• Experience developing robotic actuators, motors, or electromechanical systems
• Familiarity with electric motors, magnets, laminations, air gaps, encoders, or electromagnetic components
• Experience with bearings, gears, shafts, transmissions, and structural actuator components
• Exposure to rapid prototyping and iterative hardware development cycles
• Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly principles
