Mechanical Design Engineer (Robotics)

Base salary: $100,000–$300,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Design, prototype, fabricate, and test electro-mechanical systems for teleoperation, human-robot interaction, and robotic data collection.
• Create detailed CAD models and technical drawings for mechanical components, jigs, fixtures, and tools.
• Use 3D printing and rapid prototyping techniques to develop and evaluate hardware prototypes.
• Collaborate with software and mechanical engineers to integrate hardware, software, and mechanical designs.
• Conduct testing and simulations, troubleshoot hardware issues, and provide technical support throughout product development.
• Prepare hardware design documentation, specifications, and test procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's, master's, or higher degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience designing and prototyping hardware with electrical and mechanical components.
• Proficiency with mechanical CAD software such as SolidWorks, Onshape, or an equivalent tool.
• Experience with Arduino or similar platforms for electronic prototyping and control systems.
• Strong understanding of electronic components, circuit design, signal processing, and hardware testing and debugging.
• Familiarity with 3D printing and rapid prototyping techniques.

Nice to have

• Experience with robotics, teleoperation, or digital twin systems.
• Experience applying human-centered considerations to robot design.
• Experience designing actuators and sensors for high-performance haptic devices.
• Experience with high-speed control systems and low-level firmware.
