Senior Manufacturing Software Engineer (AI)

Location: On-site in San Jose, California; international travel to manufacturing partners is required as needed.

Salary: $175,000–$225,000 per year plus significant equity.

What you will do

• Design and build backend services, APIs, and data pipelines for manufacturing test and factory operations.
• Own manufacturing release management, deployment, versioning, and production traceability.
• Develop data platforms for test results, yield analysis, genealogy, and production reporting.
• Build reusable test station applications, operator interfaces, and automation frameworks.
• Integrate software with MES, SFIS, and other contract-manufacturer factory systems.
• Partner with hardware, firmware, software, quality, manufacturing test, and NPI teams from product development through production ramp.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience building production software, backend services, or data platforms.
• Strong Python development experience, or equivalent expertise in Go, Java, C#, or TypeScript with Python proficiency.
• Strong fundamentals in testing, CI/CD, version control, code review, debugging, and production monitoring.
• Experience with scalable APIs, databases, data models, distributed systems, and external system integrations.
• Experience building internal applications, dashboards, or operator-facing software and owning technical architecture.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience; onsite work in San Jose is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with manufacturing software, factory automation, MES, SFIS, or production operations.
• Manufacturing test software, hardware validation, or automated test infrastructure experience.
• Experience with yield analysis, manufacturing analytics, traceability, or genealogy systems.
• Firmware release tooling, embedded software, AI servers, accelerator systems, networking hardware, or storage systems.
• Experience supporting first-generation hardware products through manufacturing scale-up.
