Senior Systems Test Engineer (Autonomy Behavior)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States (HQ)

Base pay: $160,360–$291,150, plus annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and implement automated test pipelines and tooling for Systems Engineering.
• Standardize testing modalities through unified triage workflows across workstreams.
• Lead root cause analyses, identify testing gaps, and establish continuous feedback loops for verification and validation.
• Translate system and pipeline gaps into technical requests for Data Platform, Simulation, and Infrastructure teams.
• Validate partner-team solutions through technical guidance, code review, and documentation.
• Generate test results that support the Autonomy Safety Case.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant technical experience, including 3+ years testing autonomous vehicles or robotic systems.
• Hands-on coding experience in Python or C++ for automation and tooling.
• Experience designing and managing large-scale simulation or test automation pipelines.
• Strong understanding of autonomy architecture and the interaction between sensing, perception, prediction, and planning modules.
• Strong analytical communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional technical projects.

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale simulation, behavior verification, or Fault Detection and Response testing for L2+ autonomous systems.
• Experience defining triage prioritization strategies and workflows.
• Familiarity with linking test results to evidence for an Autonomy Safety Case.
• Experience implementing validation tooling and triage workflows for complex projects.
