TL;DR

Quality Test Engineer, II (Autonomous Vehicles): Develop and execute vehicle-level test plans for autonomous truck systems, software tools, data acquisition, and CI/CD pipelines with an accent on safety, verification, and performance analysis. Focus on analyzing complex hardware-software systems, designing instrumentation and test infrastructure, and solving root-cause and regression challenges through simulation and on-road testing.

Location: Fort Worth, Texas, United States; domestic and international travel for on-road vehicle testing may be required, up to 25%.

Salary: $108,900–$130,700 USD annually.

What you will do

  • Generate and execute vehicle test plans, collect test data, and design strategic test progression.
  • Perform root-cause analysis of defects and performance issues, then recommend corrective solutions.
  • Design instrumentation, data acquisition, and analysis infrastructure for remote and on-road vehicles.
  • Analyze test results, produce performance reports, and maintain vehicle-level verification and validation documentation.
  • Develop, unit-test, deploy, and maintain software using C++, scripting languages, Linux, simulation tools, and CI/CD practices.
  • Collaborate with product, system design, and software component teams on safety-focused testing and delivery.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or computer science field, or bachelor’s degree plus 4+ years of relevant technical experience.
  • Experience testing and verifying systems combining hardware and software components.
  • Working knowledge of Linux, modern C++, Python, Bash, REST APIs, Git, Jenkins, CI/CD, and configuration management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex robotic systems across mechanical, electrical, and software domains.
  • Ability to monitor software, read and type in a moving vehicle for extended periods, remain alert, and respond appropriately in stressful environments.
  • Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.
