Molecular Technologist I (Extractions)

Location: Chicago, Illinois; onsite clinical laboratory work. Available shifts include Wednesday–Saturday overnight, Wednesday–Saturday PM, and Sunday–Wednesday PM.

Salary: $23.25 per hour for work performed in Illinois. Compensation may vary by location, qualifications, and experience.

What you will do

• Perform routine molecular testing, quality control, calibration, maintenance, and proficiency testing according to laboratory procedures.
• Execute complex molecular-based procedures and maintain high standards of accuracy and quality.
• Perform nucleic acid extraction and DNA/RNA quantification and qualification using robotics and automated liquid handlers.
• Sterilize laboratory equipment and workspaces as assigned.
• Enter clinical patient data into the Laboratory Information Management System.
• Maintain competency across assigned molecular biology protocols and complete continuing education in oncology or molecular biology.

Requirements

• BS degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, chemistry, physics, biology, or a related qualifying science.
• 0–1+ years of clinical laboratory experience.
• Ability to work the assigned shift, which depends on technical level, experience, and business needs.
• Strong communication, attention to detail, self-direction, and ability to collaborate in an interdisciplinary team.
• Ability to perform protocols in accordance with CAP, CLIA, and NYSDOH regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience in a CLIA/CAP high-complexity laboratory.
• Experience with robotics and automated liquid handling systems.
• Knowledge of LIMS platforms and other computer systems.
