Staff Software Engineer (Investment Performance and Analytics)

Location: San Ramon, California, United States; hybrid

Salary: $182,500–$228,000 annually; $200,500–$251,000 annually in select locations including the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City Metro Area

What you will do

• Design and evolve a next-generation investment performance and analytics platform.
• Calculate, report, and present performance, attribution, returns, benchmark comparisons, and contributing factors.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and design reviews through implementation.
• Shape a cloud-native technology stack based on AWS backend services.
• Build developer automation that enables scalable, high-quality applications.
• Collaborate with design, strategy, and engineering while communicating clearly and contributing to a learning-focused environment.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including architecting and designing new products and technologies.
• Experience with Kotlin or similar programming languages.
• Experience with OLAP or columnar databases, including query optimization.
• Strong data modeling skills for analytical use cases and interest in processing complex analytics over large datasets.
• Experience building cloud-native applications on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Computer Science, Information Science, or related degree; strong problem-solving, communication, and automated testing skills.

Nice to have

• Buy-side technology experience.
• Experience with Claude Code or Cursor.
• Experience building ETL pipelines that move data into OLAP systems.
• Knowledge of TWR, Brinson Attribution, Profit and Loss, or related performance methodologies.
