Software Reliability Engineer (Robotics)

What you will do

• Own and deliver an integrated testing package covering all software layers from web and cloud to embedded and on-robot services.
• Lead end-to-end testing from developer tests to real robot movement and quantify robot health and actions.
• Triage reliability issues and coordinate with software and hardware teams.
• Set and promote software reliability best practices across the organization.
• Work across the full stack including infrastructure, systems, embedded, and cloud technologies.

Requirements

• Location: Must work onsite in San Carlos, CA, United States
• Strong software engineering background with depth in at least one stack layer (cloud/backend, systems, or embedded) and ability to reason across others.
• Experience building test and reliability infrastructure or distributed systems at scale.
• Strong DevOps and Linux skills including CI/CD and infrastructure as code; fluency in Python and at least one systems language.
• Experience with SRE practices such as SLOs, error budgets, fleet observability, and monitoring.
• Understanding of mechatronics stacks and ability to distinguish software vs hardware issues.

Nice to have

• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and on-robot testing, simulation as test target.
• Experience quantifying physical system behavior such as motion, sensor, and health telemetry.
• Experience across IoT, HPC, cloud, embedded, and real-time robotics constraints.
