TL;DR

Focus on optimizing robot movement through dynamic environments, integrating perception, planning, and control, and diagnosing performance through simulation, telemetry, and real-world deployment.

Location: Fully onsite at the Mission Viejo, California office

Salary: $70,000–$200,000 per year, plus benefits and equity

What you will do

  • Design, develop, and refine motion and navigation planning algorithms for narrow passages, dynamic obstacles, and complex environments.
  • Build optimization-driven path and trajectory generation methods for smooth, efficient, and reliable robot navigation.
  • Develop and tune control algorithms for precise trajectory tracking and stable operation across wheeled, legged, and humanoid robotic systems.
  • Integrate perception, planning, and control across the autonomy stack.
  • Build testing pipelines from unit validation through full robot deployment, using simulation and regression testing.
  • Analyze telemetry, debug field-deployment issues, and improve algorithm robustness and general-case performance.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of motion planning, trajectory generation, and control systems.
  • Experience developing algorithms for wheeled, legged, wheeled-legged, or humanoid robotic systems.
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and Python on Linux-based systems.
  • Familiarity with ROS or ROS 2 and robot sensors including LiDAR, stereo or depth cameras, IMUs, GPS, and wheel encoders.
  • Ability to work fully onsite at the Mission Viejo, California office.

Nice to have

  • PhD in a relevant field.
  • Experience deploying autonomous systems in real-world environments.
  • Background in optimization, control, or numerical methods for trajectory planning.
  • Experience with learning-based or hybrid planning approaches, open-source planning or control frameworks, safety-critical autonomy, or industrial robotics.
