Senior Data Scientist / Analyst, Risk (Crypto)

Polymarket operates a peer-to-peer prediction market where users trade on outcomes across politics, economics, sports, culture, and current affairs.

What you will do

• Investigate and quantify abuse across the funnel, including fake and duplicate signups, bonus farming, wash trading, collusion, and market manipulation.
• Build detection logic combining on-chain, device, and behavioral signals to identify coordinated activity.
• Turn investigations into recurring monitoring, reporting, and alerting for emerging abuse patterns.
• Size the financial exposure of abuse vectors and recommend priorities based on actual impact.
• Partner with product on onboarding, verification, bonus eligibility, and other controls while measuring user impact.
• Support compliance investigations and regulatory reporting, and promote detection logic into the modeled data layer with analytics engineers.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in risk, fraud analytics, trust and safety, or a similar investigative analytical role.
• Expert SQL skills and the ability to investigate large behavioral datasets independently.
• Experience building detection rules or models and evaluating false-positive versus missed-abuse tradeoffs.
• Strong pattern-recognition skills and the ability to explain coordinated account behavior.
• Sound judgment regarding legitimate-user impact and discretion when handling sensitive findings.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment with frequently changing business logic.

Nice to have

• Experience with on-chain analysis, wallet clustering, or blockchain forensics.
• Experience with trade surveillance, market manipulation detection, or AML.
• Statistical or machine learning experience with anomaly detection, graph analysis, or clustering in Python or R.
• Experience in fintech, crypto, prediction markets, or other data-intensive financial products.
