Senior Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Fully remote within the United States. U.S. citizenship is required, along with eligibility to obtain and maintain federal suitability, a government-issued PIV credential, and required system access.

What you will do

• Translate mission and business questions into analytical approaches with government stakeholders and subject matter experts.
• Perform exploratory and statistical analysis, predictive modeling, forecasting, scenario analysis, and feature engineering on governed enterprise data.
• Develop, validate, document, and maintain analytical models and AI-enabled capabilities, including assumptions, definitions, and data lineage.
• Build analytical datasets with Databricks, BigQuery, Python, and SQL, collaborating with data engineers on production pipelines.
• Own and improve existing analytical products, reports, stakeholder relationships, and new capabilities.
• Deliver visualizations, dashboards, models, and written analysis, and present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with 10 years, in a quantitative field such as data science, statistics, mathematics, economics, operations research, computer science, or engineering.
• Experience developing, validating, and documenting analytical models used for operational or business decisions.
• Strong applied statistics and machine learning fundamentals, with sound judgment in selecting methods.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for analysis, modeling, and large-scale data work.
• Experience evaluating model performance and communicating uncertainty, limitations, and assumptions to non-technical stakeholders.
• Hands-on Databricks experience, including notebooks, SQL, PySpark, model development and tracking, AI features, or dashboards.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting GSA, especially the Public Buildings Service, and understanding its organization, business lines, and data.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery, data governance, and production support.
• Experience serving as a senior analytical voice, setting methods, reviewing analysis, and mentoring analysts.
