Software Engineer I (Cloud Storage)

Location: San Francisco, CA, US; on-site

Salary: $117,000–$138,000 per year plus bonus; restricted stock units included.

What you will do

• Contribute to cloud storage features as part of larger engineering projects.
• Write clean, tested, and maintainable Java or Go code.
• Participate in design documentation, code reviews, architecture discussions, testing, and software rollouts.
• Help operate software across the stack, from bare metal infrastructure to user-facing APIs.
• Build foundational expertise in distributed storage systems through mentorship, pairing, and collaboration.
• Collaborate across the engineering organization through technical initiatives and open-source exploration.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience from internships, academic projects, personal projects, or approximately one year of professional software development.
• Familiarity with coding standards, source control such as Git, testing, code reviews, and basic CI/CD or build processes.
• Working knowledge of Java or Go.
• Basic understanding of Linux fundamentals and computer architecture.
• Good communication skills, collaborative working style, and willingness to learn from senior engineers.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Coursework, internships, or personal projects involving storage technologies such as NVMe or SSDs.
• Exposure to NFS, SMB, iSCSI, or NVMe-oF.
• Open-source contributions and basic networking knowledge.
