Software Engineer, Storage (Distributed Systems)

Location: Hybrid position; must be located in San Francisco, Sunnyvale, Seattle, or the New York Metro Area

Salary: $130,600–$192,000, $159,800–$235,000, or $228,000–$342,000 USD annually, depending on level and location

What you will do

• Build and optimize distributed storage systems for reliability, consistency, availability, and performance.
• Develop control-plane services for lifecycle management, operations, and self-service APIs across databases and streaming systems.
• Build data abstraction services, smart clients, and platform services for high-throughput, low-latency workloads.
• Implement and refine caching strategies using Redis, Memcached, and similar technologies.
• Operate distributed data platforms supporting multi-petabyte, multi-million-QPS workloads, including Cassandra.
• Collaborate across infrastructure, platform, and application teams to improve storage architecture and data access.

Requirements

• 2+ years of full-time experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable distributed data infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Go or Java, including multithreading, distributed systems, and databases.
• Deep expertise in NoSQL databases such as Cassandra or DynamoDB and distributed caching systems such as Redis or Memcached.
• Experience building and optimizing high-scale storage systems for reliability, availability, and performance.
• Expertise with workflow and orchestration engines such as Temporal, Cadence, Argo, or job runners, including long-running stateful workflows.
• Must be located in the specified US metropolitan areas for the hybrid position.

• Experience contributing to the open-source Cassandra ecosystem.
