Global Supply Manager (High-Speed Interconnects)

Location: San Jose, United States; on-site. Relocation support is available for candidates moving to San Jose.

Salary: $150,000–$270,000 per year plus significant equity

What you will do

• Develop sourcing strategies for copper and optical cables, connectors, backplane systems, and high-bandwidth data links.
• Build and manage relationships with global interconnect, cable assembly, and connector suppliers.
• Negotiate pricing, capacity, tooling, and long-term supply agreements for critical components.
• Partner with Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, and Program Management on component selection, supplier qualification, NPI builds, validation, and production readiness.
• Drive cost modeling, benchmarking, should-cost analysis, and BOM evaluation across system architectures.
• Identify and mitigate supply risks involving long lead times, custom designs, single sourcing, and regional concentration, and present sourcing strategies and tradeoffs to executive leadership.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in sourcing or commodity management for interconnects, connectors, or high-speed data infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of copper and optical cabling, connectors, signal integrity, and high-speed interconnect performance requirements.
• Experience managing complex supplier relationships and negotiating high-value supply agreements.
• Strong analytical skills in cost modeling, should-cost analysis, and BOM evaluation.
• Experience supporting NPI builds and scaling supply for high-volume production, including supplier management across Asia.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience with datacenter interconnects, high-speed networking cables, optical modules, and rack-to-rack connectivity.
• Familiarity with PCIe, Ethernet, InfiniBand, and other high-speed interface standards.
• Understanding of impedance control, high-frequency design constraints, optical transceivers, and fiber systems.
• Experience sourcing custom cable assemblies or designing high-density interconnect systems.
• Experience in a high-growth hardware startup environment.
