C++ Systems Engineer (Robotics)

What you will do

• Own and improve the real-time C++ infrastructure supporting NEO’s sensor pipelines, motor control interfaces, and deterministic scheduling.
• Build benchmarking, flamegraph, profiling, and regression-tracking tools to monitor latency and throughput.
• Develop IPC and serialization layers using lock-free queues, memory pools, and shared-memory buffers.
• Design clean, reliable foundational libraries used by perception, planning, controls, and actuation teams.
• Ship systems software that runs reliably across thousands of robots in homes and warehouses.

Requirements

• 5+ years of production C++ experience in performance-critical systems such as robotics, autonomous vehicles, HFT, game engines, operating systems, runtimes, compilers, or HPC.
• Strong Linux and systems expertise, including toolchains, ABI, kernel interfaces, cross-compilation, profiling, tracing, and assembly inspection.
• Experience with benchmarking, flamegraphs, performance counters, and systems-level debugging.
• Ability to design clear interfaces with minimal dependencies and deterministic behavior under load.
• Experience with real-time or safety-critical systems where latency guarantees and failure modes have physical consequences.
• Familiarity with lock-free data structures, memory pools, shared-memory IPC, embedded Linux, and physical systems.
