Senior Robotics Software Engineer (C++)

Location: Remote in the USA, Canada, British Columbia, Calgary, Toronto, or Vancouver, BC. Occasional onsite participation may be required for robotics integration, testing, troubleshooting, or validation.

Salary: $167.8K–$204K annually, varying by geographic location and level.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain robotics middleware and application frameworks in modern C++ on embedded Linux.
• Own platform components from technical design and implementation through validation, deployment, and fleet operation.
• Improve reliability, performance, developer experience, observability, and system health across the robot fleet.
• Collaborate with Autonomy and Systems Engineering on risk assessments, failure analysis, fault handling, safety requirements, and software architecture.
• Diagnose complex issues involving concurrency, scheduling, interprocess communication, networking, and constrained compute resources.
• Lead technical design and code reviews, establish engineering practices, and mentor other engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with significant production experience in modern C++17 or newer.
• Experience developing and debugging systems software in embedded Linux environments.
• Strong knowledge of multithreading, concurrency, synchronization, interprocess communication, and systems-level development.
• Experience with latency-sensitive, safety-related, real-time, or high-reliability systems, including profiling and optimization.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills across software, systems, and hardware engineering.

Nice to have

• Robotics, autonomous vehicle, or complex-systems middleware experience.
• Production deployment on NVIDIA Jetson or similar embedded platforms.
• Knowledge of Linux internals, scheduling, resource management, device interfaces, and IPC mechanisms.
• Experience with fault-tolerant architecture, functional safety, distributed systems, networking, RPC, serialization, telemetry, or fleet diagnostics.
• Experience integrating software with sensors, embedded hardware, or robotic system components.
