Robotics Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Milpitas, California, United States; 5 days/week in-office collaboration required

Salary: $165,000–$235,000 USD per year plus bonus and equity

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain production robotics software in C++ and Python.
• Integrate capabilities across perception, motion planning, controls, teleoperation, and platform software.
• Improve testing, validation, fault handling, performance, and reliability for robots operating in unstructured outdoor environments.
• Debug complex failures involving software, sensors, networking, timing, and hardware interfaces.
• Build developer tools, scripts, workflows, observability features, and release infrastructure.
• Validate new features directly on physical robots and iterate between development and real-world testing.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of professional experience in robotics, autonomous vehicles, drones, or complex embedded systems, including deployment of physical hardware products.
• Strong C++ and Python skills, including production-level C++ development and Python tooling.
• Experience with robotics domains such as perception, motion planning, controls, localization, state estimation, system integration, or robot behavior.
• Strong Linux development and system troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to collaborate in the office 5 days per week in Milpitas, California.

Nice to have

• Experience with autonomous driving, drones, mobile robotics, or outdoor and unstructured environments.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and robotics software release workflows.
• Experience building testing, simulation, telemetry, debugging, log analysis, visualization, or diagnostics tools.
• Experience with Foxglove, Grafana, RViz, or custom robotics interfaces.
• Experience taking robotics software from prototype to production and supporting fleet-scale reliability.
