Controls Engineer (Power Electronics)

Location: Mossville, Illinois, United States; onsite five days per week. Domestic relocation is available. Travel may be required up to 20% of the time.

Salary: $97,530–$146,290 annually.

What you will do

• Develop and validate real-time control algorithms for inverter and charger controls using MATLAB/Simulink model-based development.
• Model electrical and hybrid power systems, including batteries, reciprocating generators, and photovoltaic sources.
• Simulate and perform grid connection studies for renewable energy systems, battery energy storage systems, and their controls.
• Evaluate controller requirements, identify subsystems, and develop strategies for power conversion systems.
• Evaluate new products, processes, and systems, contributing to product design, development, and maintenance.
• Communicate technical results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science.
• Experience with analytical problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and developing alternative solutions.
• Working knowledge of technical solution development and product design from concept through production.
• Ability to communicate effectively and manage multiple concurrent priorities.
• Good background in power systems and power electronics.
• Understanding of power conversion systems, open- and closed-loop control, controller requirements, and calibration.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and power system modeling software.
• Knowledge of Hardware-in-the-Loop and Product-in-the-Loop simulations.
• Understanding of converter and inverter controls, distribution systems, and microgrids.
