Engineer Sr / Staff – Controls Engineering (Power and Energy Infrastructure)

Location: Houston, Texas, United States. Hybrid work is available for most office roles. Approximately 25% travel is required, with increased travel during commissioning and startup.

What you will do

• Lead the design and integration of plant-wide control systems for balance of plant, generator and turbine controls, power management systems, and battery energy storage systems.
• Develop and review control narratives, system logic, cause-and-effect matrices, and network architectures.
• Provide technical direction to control system integrators, vendors, OEM partners, EPC contractors, and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Support the full project lifecycle, including FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup, and operations.
• Troubleshoot, test, and optimize control systems to improve reliability and performance.
• Lead design reviews, Management of Change activities, system implementation, and compliance with safety, regulatory, and engineering standards.

Requirements

• Staff level: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university and 12–15 years of engineering experience in natural gas, data centers, or a related industry.
• Senior level: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university and at least 8 years of engineering experience in natural gas, data centers, or a related industry.
• Experience with PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA systems, including control system programming, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley, FactoryTalk, AVEVA/Wonderware, power system controls, and SEL applications.
• Knowledge of industrial networking, OT/IT integration, OPC UA, DNP3, IEC 61850, P&IDs, instrumentation, and control system commissioning.
• Experience with large capital projects and EPC environments.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
