Senior Software Engineer (Billing)

Location: San Francisco, CA, US; on-site

Salary: $175,000–$220,000 per year plus bonus; restricted stock units included.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate scalable billing systems covering usage metering, pricing, invoicing, and payment integrations.
• Develop real-time and batch processing pipelines for usage tracking and cost calculation.
• Build APIs and services that provide customers with transparent insights into usage and spend.
• Ensure billing data and workflows are accurate, reliable, auditable, and resilient.
• Implement validation, reconciliation, observability, monitoring, alerting, and error-handling systems.
• Partner with Finance, Product, Customer Success, and Support teams while mentoring engineers and contributing to architectural decisions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience, including backend development with Go, Java, Rust, or C++.
• Experience with billing, payments, metering, financial systems, or similarly complex high-integrity data systems.
• Experience designing and operating scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems with strong data consistency guarantees.
• Knowledge of real-time and batch processing, event-driven architectures, and financial data modeling.
• Strong ownership, attention to detail, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience with observability, reliability engineering, mentoring, and technical leadership.
