Substation Protection & Control Designer (Electrical Engineering)

Location: Remote Puerto Rico

Salary: $67,034–$113,958 per year

What you will do

• Design and prepare relay protection and control drawings for high-voltage substations operating from 12kV to 500kV.
• Develop substation relay one-lines and three-lines, AC/DC schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules.
• Produce SCADA, communications, and point-to-point wiring diagrams.
• Coordinate with physical design, settings, and drafting disciplines to ensure quality deliverables.
• Interpret vendor information, apply client standards, and support design package development.
• Follow company QA/QC processes and continuously improve technical and professional skills.

Requirements

• Associate degree or high school diploma.
• Experience with transmission substation design.
• At least 3 years of detailed wiring design experience, including single lines, schematics, and relay panels.
• At least 3 years of experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Inventor, and MicroStation.
• Understanding of AC/DC control diagrams and point-to-point wiring requirements.
• Knowledge of applicable standards such as NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI.

Nice to have

• Ability to assist lead engineers with initial design requirements.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Knowledge of design techniques and tools used to produce technical plans, blueprints, and drawings.
