Location: Hybrid role based at the Milton Park office in Oxfordshire, with a minimum of three days per week in person; candidates must live within a commutable distance and have the right to live and work in the UK. The office is expected to relocate to Oxford city centre in late 2027 or early 2028.
Salary: £39,410 plus a 10% bonus.

What you will do
- Commission new academic and professional books and new editions for the Routledge Psychology list.
- Develop publishing programs in psychology research methods, introductory psychology, and comparative psychology.
- Manage the frontlist manuscript program and coordinate submission, production, and publication deadlines.
- Meet annual commissioning, publishing, and revenue goals based on market and customer needs.
- Build relationships with academic and professional authors through virtual and in-person events in the UK and overseas.
- Collaborate with editorial, digital, production, marketing, rights, sales, and global editorial colleagues on list strategy and delivery.
Requirements
- Previous experience commissioning books in academic publishing and familiarity with the academic book publishing process.
- Commercial awareness of textbook, research, and professional publishing, including market trends and competitor activity.
- Strong written and verbal communication, networking, organisation, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to budget, analyse financial data, prioritise varied workloads, and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong word processing, spreadsheet, and database skills.
- Right to live and work in the UK and availability for at least three days per week in the Milton Park office are required.
