Autonomous Vehicle Operator, South San Francisco (PM Shift, 12-Month Duration)

Location: On-site in South San Francisco, California; first 2 weeks of training in Santa Clara, California

Salary: $27/hour for the Afternoon/Evening shift, plus weekend differential, benefits, and possible discretionary contract completion bonus

What you will do

• Operate autonomous test vehicles in manual and autonomous modes for up to 8 hours per day in varied traffic conditions.
• Use proprietary software to collect real-world driving data and provide detailed feedback to engineers.
• Troubleshoot operational issues in real time and coordinate with the Mission Operations team.
• Monitor safety and navigation systems while maintaining situational awareness and following operational procedures.
• Complete vehicle inspections and basic maintenance, including washing vehicles and inflating tires.
• Interact with the public and host occasional ridealongs for executives, investors, stakeholders, and engineers.

Requirements

• Current valid California driver's license and at least 3 years of experience holding a US driver's license.
• Clean driving record and ability to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
• Availability to work 5 days per week on a 2:00pm–10:30pm PT Afternoon/Evening shift, including rotating Thursday–Monday, Friday–Tuesday, or Saturday–Wednesday schedules.
• Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
• Ability to use laptops, tablets, smartphones, and online collaboration platforms.
• Ability to sit in an enclosed vehicle for extended periods, work around abrupt vehicle movements, and regularly lift up to 25 pounds.
