Billing Specialist

Location: Hybrid, five days per week in the New York City office at 1 World Trade

Salary: $90,000–$120,000 per year, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Prepare, review, and process client invoices according to billing guidelines and engagement terms.
• Review attorney matter entries, expenses, and pre-bills; coordinate edits and finalize invoices.
• Manage monthly billing cycles, monitor invoice status, and resolve issues affecting delivery or payment.
• Respond to billing inquiries, reconcile discrepancies, support collections, and maintain accurate billing records.
• Support client billing arrangements, matter setups, month-end close activities, and financial reporting.
• Identify opportunities to streamline billing workflows through automation and AI-enabled processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 3–5+ years of legal billing or law firm finance experience.
• Experience with legal billing systems and accounting software.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace.
• Excellent organization, attention to detail, analytical ability, communication skills, and deadline management.
• Ability to handle confidential financial information discreetly in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Experience billing sophisticated corporate or financial services clients.
• Familiarity with Legal Tracker, CounselLink, Tymetrix, Serengeti, or similar legal e-billing platforms.
• Experience with law firm practice management or accounting systems.
• Experience using AI tools to improve finance and operational workflows.
• Experience in a high-growth startup or rapidly scaling professional services organization.
