Salary: $200,000–$275,000 base salary, plus equity and bonus

What you will do

• Lead the transition from cash to accrual accounting and establish GAAP-compliant financial statements, policies, and audit readiness.
• Own the monthly close, accounts receivable and payable, collections, payroll, reconciliations, approval workflows, and close documentation.
• Build revenue accounting for usage-based, multi-party marketplace transactions, including ASC 606, principal-versus-agent analysis, credits, refunds, chargebacks, deferred revenue, and provider payouts.
• Design controls for customer funds, payouts, disputes, fraud adjustments, bank activity, and reconciliation across product, billing, payments, payouts, and the general ledger.
• Implement and improve ERP, billing, payout, AP automation, tax, payroll, equity administration, and reporting systems.
• Partner with the COO, fractional CFO, founders, engineering, product, data, legal, and operations teams on reporting, planning, tax, systems, and future team growth.

Requirements

• Active CPA in good standing with strong technical accounting judgment and practical GAAP experience.
• 8+ years of accounting and finance experience, including 2+ years at Controller, Assistant Controller, or equivalent senior accounting leadership level in a high-growth company.
• Hands-on ownership of monthly close, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and private-company accounting operations.
• Experience with marketplace, platform, SaaS, usage-based, fintech, payments, infrastructure, or other multi-party transactional business models.
• Working knowledge of ASC 606, deferred revenue, customer credits, refunds, payouts, unit economics, and US multi-state indirect tax compliance.
• Experience operating or implementing ERP, billing, payment, payout, payroll, tax, and reporting systems, with an automation-first approach.

Nice to have

• Big Four, national, or top regional public-accounting experience combined with in-house operating experience.
• 10–12 years of accounting and finance experience and experience as the first or most senior in-house accounting leader.
• Experience with cash-to-accrual conversion, first-audit readiness, marketplace-facilitator analysis, international VAT/GST, withholding, and 1099 or 1042-S reporting.
• Experience with systems such as Stripe, Adyen, Avalara, Vertex, TaxJar, Tipalti, Bill.com, Ramp, Brex, Rippling, or Carta.
• Experience with AI and automation tooling, equity accounting including ASC 718 and 409A, SQL, data warehouses, BI tools, or product analytics.

Hiring process
