TL;DR

Location: San Mateo, United States

Base salary: $100,000–$300,000 USD per year

What you will do

  • Develop physics solvers and modeling methods for high-degree-of-freedom, contact-rich robotics tasks.
  • Design GPU-accelerated solvers optimized for throughput, stability, and scalability.
  • Profile and optimize simulation performance on modern GPUs and distributed clusters.
  • Build a next-generation open-source simulation stack for robotics sim-to-real transfer.
  • Collaborate with scene-generation engineers, robotics engineers, ML researchers, external experts, and the open-source community.
  • Shape the long-term technical direction of physical modeling and sim-to-real strategy.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Physics, Robotics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Strong experience with physics engines or high-fidelity simulators for articulated rigid bodies.
  • Deep understanding of dynamics, contact modeling, constraint-based methods, integrators, and accuracy–speed tradeoffs.
  • Expertise in CUDA and GPU programming, including optimization at scale.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python and experience building reliable systems for technical teams.
  • Familiarity with vectorized environments, domain randomization, large-scale rollouts, ML/RL pipelines, and real robot platforms.

Nice to have

  • Experience with deformable-body simulation, fluids, or differentiable simulation.
  • Publications, open-source contributions, or shipped systems in simulation, robotics, graphics, or numerical computing.
