Senior Robotics Field Application Engineer (Robotics)

Location: On-site in Houston, TX; the role supports customer sites across the U.S. with up to 30% travel and occasional international travel. The onsite work philosophy also states that candidates are expected to work from the Irvine, CA office.

Salary: $80,000–$130,000 per year, plus benefits and equity.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end deployment, commissioning, field testing, validation, and operational readiness for drones, quadrupeds, humanoid robots, and other robotic systems.
• Serve as the primary technical contact during customer pilots, deployments, and production operations.
• Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, networking, and robotic system issues while minimizing downtime.
• Deliver technical demonstrations, customer training, and executive-level presentations.
• Translate customer feedback, deployment learnings, and field data into product improvements and engineering priorities.
• Develop deployment playbooks, troubleshooting guides, operational documentation, and best practices while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in robotics, autonomous systems, field engineering, solutions engineering, systems integration, or a similar customer-facing technical role.
• Experience leading complex technical deployments in industrial or customer-facing environments.
• Strong knowledge of robotic systems, sensors, networking, Linux-based environments, and system integration.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, presentation, project management, and organizational skills.
• Willingness to work onsite and travel up to 30% to U.S. customer sites; a valid passport and REAL ID or equivalent documentation are preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with autonomous robots, drones, quadrupeds, humanoids, or industrial automation systems.
• Programming or scripting experience with Python, C++, ROS/ROS2, or similar technologies.
• Experience with perception systems, robotic hardware integration, cloud robotics platforms, remote operations, or fleet management.
• Experience supporting industrial customers in manufacturing, construction, mining, energy, or related environments.
• Experience developing deployment methodologies, standard operating procedures, or technical documentation.
