Customer Service Technician (Telecom)

Location: Baxter Springs, Kansas, USA; field-based work within assigned geographic service areas

What you will do

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot high-speed internet, video, and voice networks, including wiring and equipment.
• Maintain and repair outside plant facilities within assigned service areas.
• Climb poles, dig up and bury cable, work in utility access holes and controlled environmental vaults, and locate buried telephone cables.
• Support other technical personnel and direct customer-facing work and sales referrals.
• Follow safety rules and regulations while working varied shifts, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime when required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to complete service technician boot camp covering POTS/DSL installation and repair, cable splicing and maintenance, basic transmissions, air pressure, and HSI installations.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, work aloft, handle extension ladders and utility access hole covers, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
• Professional customer communication, accountability, active listening, problem-solving, teamwork, and willingness to continuously develop technical skills.

Nice to have

• Previous customer-facing telecommunications operations technician experience.
• Basic electricity training or certification.
• ADSL installation and repair experience.
• A+/Network+ certification.
