Commissions Accounting Lead (AI)

Location: Remote in the United States

Salary: $111,300–$178,100 in Colorado; $111,300–$196,700 in Washington; $111,300–$215,400 in California; $134,600–$215,400 in New York City, annually. Eligible for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Perform accounting for commission accruals, expenses, capitalization, and amortization under ASC 606 across products and contract types.
• Review complex sales and partner agreements to determine accounting treatment and cost classification under GAAP.
• Design and implement automated workflows and AI-enabled tools for agreement review, anomaly detection, reconciliation, and data quality monitoring.
• Prepare and review commission-related balance sheet and P&L reconciliations, investigate variances, and analyze unusual trends.
• Design, execute, and document SOX-compliant controls, journal entries, audit schedules, technical memos, and financial reporting documentation.
• Partner with Legal, Financial Operations, Revenue Operations, Partner Operations, Global Analytics, and IT on deal structures and system improvements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful exposure to commission accounting and/or ASC 606 cost capitalization.
• Working knowledge of ASC 606, incremental costs of obtaining a contract, and GAAP cost classification.
• Experience in a SaaS or subscription-based business and with complex, non-standard agreements.
• Hands-on experience designing and building automation and redesigning inefficient processes.
• Demonstrated proficiency using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Copilot for accounting analysis, agreement review, or process automation.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel, plus the ability to explain technical accounting conclusions to non-accounting partners.
