Controller (Accounting/Finance): Owns accounting operations, month-end close, consolidation, and financial reporting for a growing multi-entity legal services platform with an accent on US GAAP, internal controls, and scalable financial systems. Focus on integrating acquired firms, managing audits and compliance, and building reliable accounting processes for management and investor reporting.

Location: Hybrid in New York City or Austin, United States

Salary: $190,000–$230,000 in New York City or $165,000–$205,000 in Austin, plus equity.

What you will do

• Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes and deliver accurate financial statements.
• Lead consolidation and intercompany accounting across multiple legal entities, including eliminations and entity-level reporting.
• Oversee accounting operations covering payables, receivables, payroll accounting, fixed assets, cash reconciliations, and the general ledger.
• Design and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and technical accounting documentation in accordance with US GAAP.
• Manage external audits and coordinate tax, regulatory, and statutory compliance with advisors.
• Support acquired-firm integrations, budgeting and forecasting reconciliations, investor reporting, and accounting systems optimization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and experience owning full-cycle close and financial statement preparation.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting, consolidations, and intercompany transactions.
• Experience managing external audits and working with auditors and tax advisors.
• Strong understanding of internal controls and process design.
• Proficiency with accounting or ERP systems, advanced Excel skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
