TL;DR
Senior Electrical Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles): Championing the specification, development, validation, and deployment of AI hardware for Nuro's self-driving stack with an accent on high-performance compute, module-level electrical design, and system reliability. Focus on designing and debugging high-speed PCBs, evaluating CPUs, GPUs, ML accelerators, and ASICs, and leading hardware programs with ODM, JDM, and Tier1 partners.

Location: Mountain View, California, United States

Salary: $160,360–$240,540 per year, plus annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

  • Lead the specification, development, validation, and deployment of AI hardware for the self-driving stack and supporting infrastructure.
  • Drive module- and system-level electrical design across in-house, CM, JDM, ODM, and Tier1 development models.
  • Evaluate CPUs, GPUs, ML accelerators, and other ASICs to guide future hardware development.
  • Support full product lifecycles with domestic and international development partners.
  • Mentor junior engineers and interns.

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing and deploying high-performance compute systems.
  • Demonstrated PCB schematic and layout design, bring-up, and debugging skills using EDA tools.
  • Expertise in high-speed and high-complexity electrical engineering design.
  • Proficiency with oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, power supplies, network analyzers, and other lab equipment.
  • Growth mindset and ability to develop solutions for novel technical challenges.

Nice to have

  • System architecture experience.
  • Experience with NVIDIA Drive platforms, including PX2, Orin, or Thor.
  • Proficiency with Altium and the Ansys simulation suite.
  • Experience with offshore JDM development.
  • Knowledge of Verilog, C/C++, and Python.
