Associate Sr. Counsel - Insurance Defense

Annual base salary: $123,400–$203,600

What you will do

• Independently manage a caseload of higher-exposure cases and complex litigation, including Major Case and Complex Claim matters.
• Try cases to verdict or negotiate resolutions using advanced litigation skills.
• Conduct legal research; draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other substantive legal documents.
• Attend court events, depositions, and other appointments; provide case analysis and handling recommendations to insured clients and Claim partners.
• Collaborate with expert witnesses and consultants to develop case strategies, evaluate technical matters, and prepare testimony.
• Manage client relationships, provide legal training and updates, mentor attorneys and legal support staff, and support office business needs.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent international legal degree from an accredited law school.
• At least 7 years of experience as a practicing attorney, including insurance defense litigation.
• Active license in good standing to practice law in the state or states where representation is required.
• Regular experience handling hearings, trials, dispositive motion arguments, depositions, or other court proceedings, with the ability to travel to those meetings.
• Valid driver's license required depending on location.
• Proven jury-trial experience with successful courtroom outcomes, including advanced advocacy, legal writing, presentation, negotiation, and summary judgment or appellate experience.
• In-depth knowledge of the relevant practice areas, bench, bar, local jurisdictional practices, and adversaries.
• Strong relationship-building, leadership, mentoring, decision-making, prioritization, responsiveness, and adaptability skills.
