Senior Trial Attorney (Insurance Defense)

Location: Hybrid, NY - New York City, United States. Travel is required as needed for business, and the role requires attendance at hearings, trials, depositions, court proceedings, and other appointments.

Annual base salary: $136,100–$224,500, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Independently manage higher-exposure cases and complex litigation matters from inception through trial and appeal.
• Try cases to verdict or negotiate resolutions using advanced litigation skills and techniques.
• Conduct legal research; draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other substantive legal documents.
• Analyze cases and recommend file-handling strategies to insured clients and Claim partners.
• Collaborate with expert witnesses and consultants, manage client and business-partner relationships, and provide training and legal updates.
• Mentor attorneys and legal support staff, support office goals through special projects, and use case-management technology and automation.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent international legal degree from an accredited law school.
• At least 7 years of experience as a practicing attorney, including insurance defense litigation experience.
• Active license in good standing to practice law in the state or states where representation is required.
• Proven experience litigating jury trials with successful courtroom outcomes.
• Advanced oral and written advocacy skills, including summary judgment and/or appellate success.
• Strong technical knowledge of relevant practice areas and the ability to communicate complex litigated matters to diverse audiences.
• Regularly handle hearings, trials, dispositive motion arguments, depositions, or other court proceedings and be able to travel to them; a valid driver's license is required depending on location.
• Advanced negotiation, decision-making, relationship-building, leadership, mentoring, prioritization, responsiveness, and attention-to-detail skills.
