Sr. Trial Attorney (Insurance)

Location: Remote anywhere in the United States, except Alaska and Hawaii; travel is required when appropriate for arbitrations, trials, team meetings, and other in-person events. Applicants must be authorized to work indefinitely in the United States. California Bar licensure in good standing is required.

Salary: $152,000–$200,000 starting pay range across hiring states; Colorado range: $152,000–$185,000. Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus of up to 12% of eligible pay.

What you will do

• Handle a full inventory of complex and high-value litigated insurance defense files with minimal management oversight.
• Conduct all phases of personal injury litigation, including investigation, discovery, motions, arbitration hearings, mediation, and jury trials.
• Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery materials, trial documents, and other legal work through independent analysis and judgment.
• Appear and advocate for hirify.global and its member insureds.
• Advise on legal issues affecting insurance and motor club operations and resolve major matters within the legal specialty.
• Collaborate with claims specialists, paralegals, and support staff; advise and mentor less senior attorneys.

Requirements

• 10–12+ years of experience in insurance defense practice with considerable courtroom and first-chair trial experience.
• Juris Doctorate and active California Bar license in good standing.
• Proficiency in personal injury litigation, including liability assessment, causation, damages, coverage, personal injury damages and causation, and the tri-partite relationship.
• Ability to manage and prioritize a complex case inventory efficiently and handle multiple tasks.
• Advanced analytical and legal skills, including independent judgment and acting in the client’s best interest.
• Strong negotiation, creative advocacy, and persuasive communication skills.
• Excellent organized and timely verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with assigned paralegals and support staff.
• Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and online research tools, and knowledge of legal ethics.
