Public Policy Specialist

Location: Remote or hybrid, primarily based at the Reston, Virginia headquarters in the DC Metro area

Salary: $55,424–$94,221 per year

What you will do

• Support federal clients in developing policies, drafting regulations, explaining rulemaking rationale, and implementing regulatory requirements.
• Manage and analyze public comments submitted on proposed agency rules.
• Draft and edit rulemaking documents, style guides, reports, and presentations.
• Synthesize information from regulatory documents, literature, and technical reports.
• Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data to develop recommendations.
• Provide project updates and discuss analyses with clients and project staff.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or JD, or a bachelor’s degree with at least two years of relevant experience.
• Relevant background in public policy, government, environmental science, natural or physical science, political science, or a related field.
• U.S. citizenship is required for federal contracts.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a moderate-level government security clearance.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, time-management, decision-making, written, and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and at least one general AI assistant, such as Microsoft Copilot, Gemini, Claude, or ChatGPT.

• Strong attention to detail and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
