Energy Storage and Battery Industrial Base Analyst (Battery Manufacturing)

Salary: $99,000–$144,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Assess U.S. and allied industrial bases for lithium-ion, solid-state, sodium-ion, and next-generation battery technologies.
• Evaluate supply chains for lithium, graphite, nickel, cobalt, manganese, rare earth elements, and other strategic minerals.
• Identify manufacturing capability gaps and recommend investments to strengthen domestic production and supply chain resilience.
• Conduct market research, technology assessments, industrial capability analyses, and risk analyses related to foreign sourcing and critical-material shortages.
• Support IBAS, Defense Production Act, budget, project execution, and performance-tracking initiatives.
• Coordinate with Government agencies, industry, national laboratories, and academia; prepare briefings, white papers, memoranda, correspondence, and responses to executive taskings.

Requirements

• Active SECRET security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain TOP SECRET clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, materials science, chemistry, physics, industrial engineering, supply chain management, or a related field.
• At least three years of relevant experience supporting DoD, defense acquisition, industrial base, manufacturing, or critical technology programs.
• At least three years of hands-on industrial manufacturing or RDT&E experience, including production-site facilitation or product lifecycle management/engineering.
• Knowledge of battery chemistry, energy storage technologies, advanced manufacturing, and domestic battery supply chains.
• Strong analytical, technical writing, communication, Microsoft Office, and collaborative teamwork skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a related technical discipline.
• Experience with IBAS, the Defense Production Act, defense industrial base programs, critical-minerals processing, or domestic manufacturing initiatives.
• Experience with acquisition lifecycle, PPBE, industrial-base assessments, technology evaluations, and strategic market analysis.
• PMP, CSEP, DAWIA, or equivalent certification; Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
