Building Automation Controls Engineer (BAS)

Location: Remote within U.S. time zones, aligned with PST/CST; occasional meetings may occur outside standard U.S. working hours. The role is associated with Redmond, Washington, and the salary range applies to candidates based in Washington State.

Salary: $140,000–$150,000 USD annually for candidates based in Washington State.

What you will do

• Provide technical oversight for BAS and controls engineering across large-scale, mission-critical and hyperscale facility projects.
• Review BAS submittals, controls schematics, sequences of operations, points lists, panel and device schedules, riser diagrams, and network architecture documentation.
• Support construction and commissioning by reviewing drawings, developing and executing testing scripts, validating system performance, and resolving technical issues.
• Track design comments through package revisions and closure while identifying design risks and field issues.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and facility engineering teams, vendors, system integrators, and other project stakeholders.
• Document design changes and lessons learned and improve BAS and controls standards across a global project portfolio.

Requirements

• 8+ years of Building Automation Systems engineering experience and 5+ years in mission-critical, data center, or critical-facility construction.
• 5+ years of experience with major DDC platforms and hands-on experience designing, programming, commissioning, or supporting BAS/DDC environments.
• Experience reviewing sequences of operations, controls schematics, points lists, BAS submittals, network architecture diagrams, and panel and device schedules.
• Strong working knowledge of BACnet and Modbus, plus working knowledge of DDC, PLC, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems as they relate to controls integration.
• Experience supporting commissioning, testing, system validation, issue resolution, or field implementation and collaborating with vendors, integrators, and engineering teams.
• Ability to collaborate across U.S. and APAC time zones, including occasional meetings outside standard U.S. working hours. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Visio is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with hyperscale data center design, construction, commissioning, or operations.
• Experience authoring, maintaining, or enforcing controls engineering standards across multiple projects.
• Familiarity with Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, or Automated Logic platforms and vendors.
• Experience in a vendor, systems integrator, or consulting environment and in global, multi-project engineering programs.
• Experience identifying lessons learned and improving future engineering standards and deployments.
