Senior Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls (EI&C) Engineer (Industrial)

Location: Oakville, Ontario, Canada; hybrid work mode with occasional travel of approximately 15% for client meetings, site visits, commissioning, and collaboration with other offices.

Expected compensation: CAD 50,000–110,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.

What you will do

• Develop electrical and instrumentation designs for industrial and water treatment facilities.
• Prepare instrument lists, valve lists, datasheets, termination drawings, installation details, schematics, load lists, I/O lists, and network architectures.
• Design low-voltage industrial control systems, control panels, and equipment for Class I Division 2 hazardous locations.
• Review P&IDs, general arrangements, technical specifications, customer requirements, and engineering calculations.
• Manage assigned engineering scope, budget, schedule, risks, and technical documentation while supporting production and manufacturing.
• Lead technical discussions, support proposals and bids, participate in FATs, and provide commissioning support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.
• At least 10 years of experience in electrical and industrial control system design.
• Strong experience with complex low-voltage industrial control systems designed to UL and CEC standards.
• Experience designing control panels and selecting equipment for Class I Division 2 hazardous locations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, verbal, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Valid driver’s license and passport; willingness to travel approximately 15%.

Nice to have

• PLC, HMI, and SCADA system design and programming experience.
• Knowledge of industrial automation, low-voltage power distribution, hydraulics, and fluid mechanics.
• Basic knowledge of water chemistry and water treatment processes.
• Experience supporting industrial process facilities and balancing technical and business requirements.
