Staff Systems Engineer (Robotics)

Location: San Francisco, CA or Oakland, CA, United States

Salary: $130,600–$192,000, $159,800–$235,000, or $193,800–$285,000 USD annually, depending on level and work location.

What you will do

• Define system requirements and interfaces for next-generation delivery platforms.
• Develop system architectures and interface control documents covering functionality, performance, and safety constraints.
• Lead trade studies and technical risk assessments to evaluate design options and make data-driven recommendations.
• Create verification and validation strategies, including test plans, acceptance criteria, and simulation requirements.
• Coordinate cross-discipline verification and system integration across mechanical, electrical, software, reliability, operations, suppliers, and regulatory stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Systems, Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or a related engineering discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, requirements management, or a related role in a safety-critical or highly complex engineering environment.
• Experience developing and validating system requirements for self-driving, aerospace, or other safety-critical systems.
• Proficiency with requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jama, or Polarion, including structured requirements traceability.
• Experience managing interfaces across mechanical, electrical, software, and reliability engineering disciplines.
• Python or SQL experience for data analysis, system modeling, or test automation, alongside strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
