Manufacturing Systems Integration Engineer

Location: On-site in Torrance, California, with the role listed in Los Angeles, California. Full-time on-site work is required, with travel to deployment sites and OEM facilities of up to 25%. U.S. person eligibility is required for ITAR purposes.

Salary: $135,000–$220,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Build and own connectivity across additive manufacturing equipment, machine controllers, PLC subsystems, and vendor interfaces.
• Design and operate telemetry and build-data pipelines with relational and time-series storage, monitoring, backfill, uptime, and data-integrity guarantees.
• Define canonical schemas, tag dictionaries, naming conventions, interface-control documents, state models, command semantics, and versioning practices.
• Integrate machine state, dispatch, build preparation, slicing, and manufacturing records to provide end-to-end traceability for parts, powder lots, machines, and operators.
• Integrate supplementary sensing, edge computing, data acquisition, safety states, and compliant OT networks in partnership with IT, Security, Automation, Robotics, and EHS.
• Support commissioning, FAT, SAT, qualification activities, OEM relationships, and structured problem-solving using 8D and 5 Whys.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• 5+ years connecting production manufacturing equipment to MES, SCADA, historians, or equipment and data platforms with direct hands-on integration ownership.
• Hands-on experience with OPC-UA, MQTT, and at least one PLC platform at tag and program level; Siemens S7 and TIA Portal are strongly preferred.
• Experience with proprietary or undocumented OEM interfaces, relational schema design, SQL, time-series or historian storage, schema migration, and production data pipelines.
• Working proficiency in Python or an equivalent language, with version control and code review practices, plus experience with safety interlock systems.
• Must be able to work on site full time in Torrance, California and meet U.S. person requirements for ITAR.

Nice to have

• Experience with metal or polymer additive manufacturing, LPBF controllers, laser and scanner control, in-process monitoring, melt-pool sensing, layer imaging, or galvanometer telemetry.
• Experience integrating aerospace or defense equipment into MES or factory data platforms.
• Experience with OT network security, NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, AMS7032, U.S. Navy, NIAR/NCAMP, or qualification data requirements.
• Experience supporting installation, operational, or performance qualification from a controls and data-integrity perspective.
