Databricks Platform Engineer (Databricks)

Location: Remote within the United States; up to 20% travel may be required.

Salary: $115,000–$135,000 USD per year, with possible performance-based bonuses and equity participation.

What you will do

• Administer Databricks across multiple environments, including workspaces, Unity Catalog, cluster policies, budget policies, and platform guardrails.
• Manage Microsoft Entra ID single sign-on, SCIM provisioning, service principals, and scalable access-control models.
• Partner with IT Infrastructure and Security on networking, private connectivity, encryption, egress controls, audit logs, and enterprise monitoring.
• Automate infrastructure and workloads with Terraform, Databricks Asset Bundles, and CI/CD, minimizing manual production configuration.
• Establish cost governance through tagging, business-unit showback, budget controls, and spending optimization.
• Advise data scientists, data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders on architecture and adoption of emerging Databricks capabilities.

Requirements

• Several years of hands-on, production-level Databricks administration and architecture experience, primarily on AWS or with significant Azure Databricks experience and a credible path to AWS support.
• Experience designing and managing Unity Catalog in multi-workspace environments and developing organization-wide catalog and access-control structures.
• Experience integrating Databricks with Microsoft Entra ID, including single sign-on and SCIM provisioning.
• Strong Terraform and CI/CD experience for infrastructure and platform management.
• Working knowledge of cloud networking and security concepts, including virtual private clouds, private connectivity, encryption, egress controls, and security reviews.
• Must be based in the United States; strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with government, military, controlled-data, CUI, CMMC, enclave separation, or regulated-data environments.
• Databricks certifications, including Data Engineer Professional or platform administration credentials.
• Experience with Databricks Asset Bundles, federated organizations, MLflow, machine learning operations, or model serving.
