Machine Controls Engineer (Mining)

Location: Tucson, Arizona, United States; onsite five days a week. The role may require 5–10% domestic travel. Domestic relocation assistance is available.

Salary: $97,530–$146,290 per year

What you will do

• Lead machine controls development for the Large Mining Truck product line.
• Analyze machine operations and customer applications to define control strategies for performance, efficiency, and operator experience.
• Develop simulations, trade-off analyses, control requirements, and electronic architecture contributions.
• Ensure control software supports functional safety standards and condition monitoring.
• Lead validation using Virtual Product Development, Software-in-the-Loop, and Hardware-in-the-Loop methods.
• Conduct field testing at proving grounds and customer sites and support New Technology Introduction programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent education.
• Experience with control systems, software requirements development, and systems engineering across engines, powertrain, hydraulics, or related systems.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, technical leadership, and presentation skills.
• Experience developing and validating machine controls or vehicle performance requirements.
• Visa sponsorship, international assignments, and payroll transfers are not available.

Nice to have

• hirify.global off-highway or Large Mining Truck experience.
• Hands-on testing and data collection experience.
• Machine performance and controls simulation experience.
• Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, Python, or multibody simulation tools such as hirify.global Dyansty.
