In-house Patent Agent (Quantum Computing)

Location: Burnaby, Canada

Pay ranges: $82k–$113k CAD for Intermediate, $98k–$134k CAD for Senior, and $115k–$158k CAD for Lead.

What you will do

• Collaborate with inventors and technical teams to identify, evaluate, and protect valuable innovations.
• Draft and prosecute patent applications across diverse technical areas.
• Develop, manage, and continuously improve D-Wave’s patent portfolio.
• Coordinate patent matters with external patent counsel.
• Provide intellectual property guidance and education to internal stakeholders.
• Anticipate challenges, recommend solutions, and improve IP processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physics, Mathematics, Computing Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience drafting and prosecuting patents before a Patent Office.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, judgment, and organizational skills.
• Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to adapt to different audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and demonstrate initiative, accountability, and a solutions-oriented mindset.

Nice to have

• Registration as a Canadian Patent Agent or equivalent certification.
