IP/Product Counsel

Location: United States - Remote

Base salary: $200,000–$225,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Own and expand the international intellectual property portfolio.
• Lead IP enforcement efforts, including cease-and-desist actions related to licensing violations.
• Advise engineering teams on open source licensing, including permissive, copyleft, and dual-license models.
• Advise product teams on licensing, IP, privacy, and terms of service for product and feature launches.
• Draft and review product terms, terms of service, partner agreements, and joint development agreements.
• Build scalable IP processes, templates, and resources as the legal function grows.

Requirements

• 5+ years of legal experience with a strong foundation in intellectual property law.
• Experience with trademark and copyright; patent experience is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of open source licensing, including MIT, Apache 2.0, BSD, GPL, LGPL, and MPL licenses.
• Comfort proactively protecting company IP and handling enforcement matters when required.
• Ability to work closely with product and engineering teams on new launches and roadmaps.
• Individual contributor role initially, with potential to lead the function over time.

Nice to have

• Experience advising on product launches, product roadmaps, product terms, or terms of service.
• Patent and technology transactions experience.
