Upfitter Specialist (Automotive)

Location: Onsite at hirify.global headquarters in Garden Grove, California, United States. Willingness to travel approximately 20% is required.

What you will do

• Serve as the technical liaison between external upfitters and hirify.global Engineering for Step Van and Low Cab Forward product lines.
• Import and integrate body CAD models with chassis CAD in Catia, sanitize proprietary data, and prepare CAD files for external release.
• Analyze upfitter body specifications and convert them into chassis engineering requirements.
• Perform packaging studies for liftgates, ePTOs, battery boxes, and other upfitter-specific devices.
• Maintain drawings, approved configurations, compatibility guidelines, traceability records, and configuration rules.
• Partner with manufacturing and ERP teams to standardize processes, improve upfitter efficiency, and reduce engineering escalations.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in solid modeling; Catia V6 experience is preferred.
• Automotive experience, ideally in the medium- or heavy-duty vehicle segment.
• Knowledge of stripped chassis architecture and upfit integration processes.
• Ability to communicate with external upfitters and translate technical requirements into clear customer-facing guidance.
• Strong project management, stakeholder coordination, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Garden Grove, California, with approximately 20% travel.

Nice to have

• Experience with electric vehicles, alternative powertrains, or emerging mobility platforms.
• Familiarity with vehicle integration, electrical systems, weight distribution, and load constraints.
• Experience creating standardized product or configuration frameworks.
• Experience supporting enterprise or fleet customers.
