Principal UX Engineer (Ads)

Location: Remote - United States

Base salary: $245,800–$344,100 USD per year, plus potential equity and commission depending on the position offered.

Reddit operates a large community platform and its Ads Design & Research team develops advertising experiences, advertiser tools, consumer ad experiences, measurement, and supporting systems.

What you will do

• Define and lead UX Engineering strategy across multiple Reddit Ads product areas.
• Build functional prototypes, workflow tools, agents, and production-adjacent product experiences.
• Partner with Design, Research, Product, Engineering, and Data Science leaders to shape product direction.
• Create reusable tools, systems, components, and workflows that connect design and research with production engineering.
• Improve interaction quality, accessibility, performance, and technical craft across the Ads experience.
• Build AI-native workflows and mentor practitioners while growing UX Engineering across Reddit.

Requirements

• Deep experience combining product design and engineering to build sophisticated interactive products.
• Strong hands-on expertise with React, TypeScript, and modern frontend technologies.
• Experience building production-adjacent prototypes, internal tools, systems, or frontend infrastructure.
• Strong product judgment, systems thinking, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience influencing product direction across multiple teams or product areas.
• Fluency with AI-assisted coding, agents, and advanced prototyping workflows, supported by a portfolio demonstrating technical architecture and systems thinking.

Nice to have

• Experience in advertising.
• Experience with marketplaces, enterprise tools, analytics, commerce, developer platforms, AI-powered experiences, or other multi-sided ecosystems.
