Manufacturing Engineer (Battery Manufacturing)

Location: Full-time on-site in Taiwan, with frequent presence on factory floors, regular travel between supplier facilities within Taiwan, and occasional international travel to headquarters or global sites.

Develops and manufactures advanced battery materials designed to increase lithium-ion battery energy density while reducing battery size and weight.

What you will do

• Serve as the primary battery manufacturing technical liaison between contract manufacturing operations in Taiwan and Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.
• Drive manufacturing readiness through EVT, DVT, and PVT builds, ramp-up, and mass production.
• Monitor throughput, yield, equipment utilization, and project schedules.
• Lead on-site troubleshooting and quality investigations for process deviations, line abnormalities, and CTQ issues.
• Evaluate root causes, verify CAPA, escalate issues requiring engineering or executive approval, and implement continuous improvement initiatives using process data, SPC trends, and validation metrics.
• Coordinate engineering documentation, resolve drawing and specification ambiguities, standardize manufacturing practices across supplier sites, and support supplier qualification and scalability.

Requirements

• B.S. in Engineering in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering, with 5+ years of direct lithium-ion battery manufacturing experience.
• Proven experience working directly with contract manufacturers or external supply chain partners.
• Proficiency in battery manufacturing quality systems, process validation, statistical problem-solving using SPC and DOE, and root cause analysis.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, process documentation, and work instructions.
• Strong technical judgment and communication skills, with the ability to influence external suppliers and balance production urgency with disciplined engineering decisions.
• Native or fluent Mandarin, including spoken, reading, and writing proficiency.
• Professional proficiency in English, including spoken and written proficiency.

Nice to have

• Experience leading manufacturing scale-up for pouch or cylindrical battery cells.
• Hands-on experience with MES, ERP, and manufacturing data platforms.
• Experience collaborating across time zones, especially between US and Asian operational hours.
