Production Engineer (Optics)

Location: Linkou, Taiwan; onsite at the Linkou Factory. Occasional weekend support may be required approximately once every two months.

What you will do

• Diagnose optical issues across PAS5500, YieldStar, Reticle Handler, and XT modules.
• Perform optical alignment checks, path inspections, contamination evaluations, and basic interferometric or reflective diagnostics.
• Support factory integration, optical calibration sequences, and assessment of calibration quality.
• Provide containment actions to reduce machine downtime and maintain stable production output.
• Collaborate with optics, mechanical, electrical, software, control, and mechatronics engineers on root cause analysis and structural fixes.
• Maintain and improve diagnostic procedures, calibration workflows, troubleshooting guides, and engineering documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in optics, optical engineering, applied physics with optical specialization, photonics, electro-optical engineering, optical science, optical technology, or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience in optical module assembly, integration, alignment, calibration, optical testing, or troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with optical benches, alignment tools, microscopes, or optical inspection equipment.
• Knowledge of reflection, refraction, imaging, tolerancing, alignment sensitivity, contamination effects, and optical measurements.
• Experience supporting production, manufacturing engineering, or precision equipment troubleshooting.
• Legal authorization to access technology controlled under United States Export Administration Regulations is required before starting work.

Nice to have

• Experience with semiconductor equipment, metrology tools, optical modules, or precision machinery.
• Familiarity with optical calibration, inspection tools, or sensor characterization.
• Understanding of mechanical–optical interactions and tolerance stack-up behavior.
• Exposure to engineering change processes, structured root cause analysis, or reliability improvement.
• Basic MATLAB or Python scripting for optical data analysis.
